What a difference a year makes... last year on Oneida
Lake Ron Kelly and Mike Cusano finished tied for dead last with zero fish, this
year they were an ounce away from finishing tied for first. On Sunday,
In second place was Mike Cusano with 5 smallmouths
that weighed 16 lbs 6 ozs.
Third and fourth place came from the same boat. Howard Krause brought 13 lbs 9 ozs, while Dave Celi managed 13
lbs 5 ozs.

Also at the tournament, Pete Anderson earned his first Salt City ANGLER of the

consecutive first place finishes through out the season all but assured him of
the title. Way to go SUAVEZ!!

2000 Angler Of the Year Standings
Larry Hopkins is leading the club with 887.5 points after the Sandy Pond
tournament.
He shouldn't feel too comfortable, cause waiting
beneath him are a whole pack of anglers well within striking distance.
Keep an eye on Pete Anderson and Joe Koetting, both
of whom should move into the top six following this next tournament.

Should be an interesting race... so keep plugging!

Again
Jackson and Koetting
finish 2nd and 3rd from same boat
Pete Anderson brought the lightest "20 lb bag" of bass to the scales
the world has ever seen cause when his fish were officially weighed the scale
stopped at 16 lbs 5 ozs. Still well enough ahead of
his nearest competitor Bill Jackson. Pete's win on
Bill Jackson and Joe Koetting fishing out of the same
boat found 15 lbs 9 ozs and 14 lbs 9 ozs, respectively. Their fish came out of one weed bed. Joe
Koetting caught the tournament lunker
a 4 lbs 14 oz largemouth.
In fourth place was Craig Terpening who caught fish
throughout the whole pond and managed to bring in 13 lbs 8 ozs.
Overall 18 limits where brought in for a 30 angler field.

The club enjoyed and excellent barbeque chicken dinner and some very
interesting contests. Club president Mike Cusano, entered a wet T-shirt contest
where all he had to do was put a T-shirt on... the catch was the T-Shirt was

Never did quite get it chipped out of the ice blcck!

was Chris Bowes with 12 lbs 11 ozs.
Day two at Cayuga found Terpening needing every last
bit of his day one lead. Pete Anderson brought 14 lbs 11 ozs
to the scales and claimed the day two title. Matt Martin finished in 2nd place
on day two with 14 lbs 4 ozs and the club's youngest
member 17 year old Dave (nobody spells my last name right) Rusczyk
brought in 13 lbs 3 ozs.
The overall winner was Craig Terpening with 24 lbs 13
ozs, who just edge out Chris Bowes' 24 lbs 8 oz bag
(great consistency Chris). Pete Anderson was propelled to 3rd place overall
with his day two win and finished with 23 lbs 5 ozs.
Rounding out the top four was Joe Spicer with 22 lbs 7 ozs.
The fishing for the two days was better than usual as was the participation. We
had 15 and 16 boat fields ... great job guys!!
Kids and
Grownups Have a Blast
Paula and Dick Wescott
show all a great time
This past Sunday at Paula and Dick Wescott's pond was
a reminder of how much enthusiasm children possess.
Paula and Dick opened their pond up to the club member's families, and all the
children (and adults) had a great time. The sunfish were plentiful and in many
instances very large. The occasional bass was caught (and released) back into
the pond.
Everyone brought some food to pass and the beverages were flowing cold. All had
a great time.
Again, we want to thank Paula and Dick for showing us all a great time.
See you next year!!!

Four anglers in top 20
Randy Yager, finished in 9th place with 13.45 lbs and also caught the
tournament lunker a 5.24 largemouth. That one fish
brought him $945. Rounding out the top 3 finishers was Bob Mabee
with 12.79 of smallmouths.
Rob Goffredo fished with the tournament winner Larry
Allard, brought 12.38 lbs of largemouths to the
scales.
The FRY GUY went to Dave Celi... Dave only managed
one fish weighing 1.34 lbs. Don't feel too bad for
him, cause on Saturday he caught finished 36th at the Redman out of the south
end of Champlain.
The club standings are out and we are once again in 2nd place... behind
Statewide. We are down four pounds, 78.47 to 74.42. We are looking for as many
people to fish Cayuga as possible to try and erase the deficit. So if you can
fish, please get your entry in.
See you at Sodus!!!

Mabee "Wimps" Out Victory
1999 A.O.Y. Ron Kelly in 2nd
June 25,2000 Redfield Reservoir was the start of the
Salt City Bassmasters point tournament schedule. The entire field agreed that
the fish were post spawn, with water temps hovering around 70 degrees.
Bob Mabee started in grand fashion by putting
together a limit of largemouths weighing 10 lbs 7 ozs, besting a larger than normal tournament field of 27
anglers. Bob used his standard "wimp worm" 4" Berkley
Black/Chart on an 1/8 slider head to catch fish out of
shoreline timber behind other anglers.
Second place went to Ron Kelly, the 1999 Angler of the Year, with a limit
weighing 10 lbs. 1 oz. Ron used his favorite bait, a black/blue jig/pig and
found his fish in the trees as well.
One of our 7 rookie anglers, Bill Barden, brought in
a limit of largemouths weighing 9lbs 6ozs. Bill was
In 4th place was Roger Stahl, with a decent limit of 8 lbs 15 ozs. Roger was using spinnerbaits
in 2-3' of water.
Another club rookie, Dick Wescott, caught the
tournament lunker a 3 lb. 14 oz. largemouth. Besides
the lunker, Dick showed off his "diving"
skills when he jumped over board to save his partner's rod that had become
entangled in a tree. GREAT EFFORT!!
A lot of fish were caught, so make sure to check the results section by going
to the upper left hand side of the web page.

Starts Strong
Cusano and Martin in top 10
The NYSBCF started its season at Lake George this past Sunday, June 18th. Nine
members from
Mike Cusano, started the season off by catching 14.81 lbs of largemouths which earned him a 3rd place finish (his
highest yet in the states). Mike's finish earned him $1,100. Last year's Angler
of the Year, Matt Martin is off to a great start placing in the top 10 with
12.31 lbs and earning $350. Rounding out the club's top 3 weights was Steve Stefanko with 7.57 lbs.
For all the statistics and results go to the links section at the top of left
of the page and go to the NYS Bass Federation.
The FRY GUY went to first timer Andy Dolch. Which really wasn't fair because Andy distinguished himself by at
least bringing a limit to the scales. Andy now knows what a Lake George
Limit is... his 5 fish weighed 5.43 lbs. But he had a great time!!!
The other members besides those already mentioned making the trip were in order
of finish: Bob Mabee, Roger Stahl, Rob Goffredo, Randy Yager, and Mike Fragola.
See you at Redfield...

Style Selected
Bring money to May meeting
Thanks to Steve Houseknecht we have secured a place
to "set-up" and embroider the club's logo.
The membership at the April meeting, wrote down the style of shirt they wanted,
a long sleeve, in a variety of colors.
We are looking to place the order (min. 12 shirts) at the May meeting. If you
are interested please bring $45 dollars to cover the cost of shirt/logo/name embroidary. This is a rough estimate,
it could quite possibly be less money.
We would like to get the orders in so that the shirts will be ready by the June
meeting.
