Harrington gives Sandy Pond a “Jack Attack!”

Watch out Mabee’s fire is started!

July 15th marked Salt City’s 3rd point’s tournament of the year, which 34 anglers participated in.  On this day Sandy just wasn’t Sandy… A strong front came in over the weekend and many feel this attributed to the poor results.  Only 15 limits were brought to the scales.  The average bag was a mere 6.42lbs.  All in all, the event was a great success though.  Green Point Marina was very accommodating and hospitable and everything ran smooth.  A big thank you goes out to the folks there.

12.57 lbs1st Place-Jack “Attack” Harrington.

Jack roped in another 250 pts plunking the shallow weeds.  Jack went shallow early, working a top water and spinner bait.  The re-action bite wasn’t really going to well so Jack started dragging a 7” Red Shad Berkley Power Worm through the weeds.  The worm was Texas-rigged with a ¼ oz. bullet weight. Jack attributes his good bag of Largemouth’s to targeting clean milfoil weeds.  AOY title is in Jack’s sights with three tourney’s to go.

2nd Place-Bob Mabee 10.62 lbs.

Two-time Angler of the Year winner (and club President)  Bob Mabee, got back on track at Sandy.  Bob was working an area using a 7” watermelon w/ purple flake worm to catch his fish.  The worm was Texas-rigged w/ a ¼ oz. bullet weight.  Bob stayed persistent working the same area over and over hooking fish on a pretty regular basis.  Bob claims he lost a few fish that would have definitely put him on top.  With three tourneys to go, don’t count Bob out!

3rd Place- Randy LaManche 10.46 lbs.

Randy’s boat went down during the previous day’s tournament on Chaumont Bay, and so did his optimism.  However, he did manage to land some decent Largemouth’s and a couple good Smallmouth’s to secure the Third place finish.  He spent the day throwing a 4” tube Texas-rigged with a 3/8 oz. bullet weight and a 4” black w/ blue flake Senko on a drop-shot rig.  One good Smallmouth fell victim to a crank bait.  Randy focused on 4-9 feet the entire day.  Way to go!

Lunker- Brandon Schwoope 3.72lbs.

Signing off,

Randy
